Brent grew up in a small Canadian town of 5000 people dreaming of playing in the NHL.  At age 15 Severyn started his hockey career playing on with his home town team, the Vegreville Junior "B" Rangers.  From that small town team he made the big jump to major junior hockey. After playing 3 years in the Western Hockey League and then 2 years of College hockey for the University of Alberta Golden Bears, Brent played his first NHL game at age 22 against the Montreal Canadeins while playing for the Quebec Nordiques.

Severyn is a seven-year NHL veteran and has 14 years of professional hockey experience under his belt. He played 328 games between Quebec, Florida, the New York Islanders, Colorado, Anaheim and Dallas.
